Major Traits:
The first filial generation presents a shorter growth period of about 45 days. It is characterized by stronger growth potential and better fruit set. Its fruits are in oval shape with hemp green skin and moderately-thin mesh texture. Its pulp appears reddish orange with crisp and sweet taste. Every melon weighs around 2-3 kilograms with higher sugar content at its core part. Fruits are smaller in case of greenhouse cultivation. Due to better disease resistance performance, it is suitable for open land cultivation in early spring or autumn. In addition, it is considered a quality variety of Hami melon thanks to its high yield.
Cultivation Conditions:
Cultivation density: farmers shall hang up 2,500 vines in lateral, single or double form in case of protected land cultivation. Protected and open land cultivation: farmers shall plant 800-1,500 vines, including 2-3 lateral vines. Over the period before anthesis and bearing, farmers need to conduct artificial supplementary pollination in case of raining or low temperature. Pruning and other management work shall be arranged according to local climate, environment and cultivation conditions.
Adaptability:
This variety needs an environment of 25-30℃. It is better to cultivate it on sandy soil or fluvial land with thick soil layer and better water draining ability. The planting areas of Hami melon are suitable for this variety.
